This policy explains what we do with your information when you use this website or enquire about staying at The House. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.
Who we are
The House is a holiday let in Blean, near Canterbury, Kent. This website is at the-house.uk.
For anything in this policy, contact us at Susanna@thegoodsshed.co.uk.
What we collect, and why
When you request a booking, we collect the details you give us: your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, the dates and number of guests, any extras you ask about, and anything you write in the message box.
We use this only to reply to your enquiry, arrange your stay, and contact you about it. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not sell or share it with anyone for their own purposes.
When you simply browse the site, we collect nothing about you. There is no tracking and no advertising.
Spam prevention
When a booking request is submitted, your IP address is briefly recorded to limit automated abuse of the form. It is held for one hour, then deleted, and is never linked to your booking.
Who your information is shared with
- Our email provider, which delivers our emails to you. Your name, email address and booking details pass through their systems in order to reach you.
- Our web host, which stores the website and its database.
- Stripe, if you go on to pay a deposit. Payment happens on Stripe’s own secure pages, and we never see or store your card details.
That is the complete list. Nobody else receives your information.
Cookies
This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookies are the ones WordPress uses to keep us logged in while managing the site, which apply to us and not to visitors.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries that don’t lead to a stay: 24 months, then deleted.
- Completed bookings: six years, because we are required to keep records of transactions for tax purposes.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or delete it. Email Susanna@thegoodsshed.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page. Last updated: 4 October 2026.
